Therapeutic Lip Cream

Preparations and treatments for the lips are generally designed to protect and in some cases to nourish the lips. In virtually every case their use and benefits are targeted and limited exclusively to the lips. The Luscious Lips Therapeutic Lip Cream is different in that it is not only an effective treatment for the lips themselves, but is also specially formulated for the tissue surrounding the lips. This is important because the skin surrounding the mouth is one of the first places that the signs of aging begin to appear, and this area of skin is therefore more in need of care than almost any other skin on the body.

Typically as we mature, we find that dryness becomes apparent in the tissues around the lips and this leads to fine lines and creases appearing all around the mouth, accompanied by a loss of skin tone and elasticity in this area. Because the Therapeutic Lip Cream is designed with the whole mouth area in mind, and aims to nourish the all-important tissues around the lips, as well as the lips themselves, it accordingly provides the user with much greater benefit than general lip forumulations usually attempt to offer.

The most important function of the Therapeutic Lip Cream is the moisturising of the lips and surrounding areas. This is highly beneficial, as the increased moisture content leaves the lips and surrounding skin noticeably soft and supple. Increasing the moisture level also has the advantage of plumping the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while at the same time, it increases the skin's firmness and elasticity to help avoid the formation of new lines and creases.

One of the key ingredients in achieving these effects is the renowned macadamia nut oil, chosen for its exceptional emollient qualities. Macadamia oil is very rich in essential fatty acids which help to combat dry skin conditions. In fact it contains a higher amount of palmitoleic acid (an omega-7 fatty acid) than any other plant. Palmitoleic acid is plentiful in the skin during youth, but like so many things it decreases with age. This acid is believed to help mature skin in general retain its suppleness and in the case of skin on the lips to have an anti-wrinkling and plumping effect.

The cream has also been formulated with two highly effective anti-oxidants: vitamin E and vitamin C. These two primary ingredients help smooth, protect and moisturise the skin while helping to protect it against oxidants, also known as free radicals. Free radicals are very damaging to skin cells and are considered one of the leading causes of premature aging.

The Vitamin C is also known to stimulate the cells of the dermis in the production of collagen and elastin and other components of the intercellular matrix. All of these materials are very important to the health of the skin and enable it to combat the signs of aging. Another key ingredient of the cream is collagen, as this further adds structure to the intercellular matrix of the skin and also helps replace the body's natural collagen lost due to the aging process.
